Mindfulness X — eight sessions to a steadier mind.

A structured, eight-session mindfulness program that teaches you to notice what is happening in your mind and body — and to respond with a little more choice, and a little less struggle.

About the program

Attention you can train, on purpose.

Mindfulness is the skill of paying attention to the present moment — openly, and without harsh judgement. Mindfulness X draws on established, evidence-based mindfulness training to help you build that skill, one week at a time.

Present-moment awareness

Noticing thoughts, feelings and physical sensations as they arise, instead of moving through the day on autopilot.

A new take on thoughts

Learning to see thoughts as mental events that come and go — rather than facts you have to believe or act on.

Steadier emotions

Simple practices that can help you stay grounded when stress, worry or low mood start to build.

Everyday practice

Short, practical exercises you can fold into daily life, so the skills keep working between sessions.

Mindfulness is a practice, not a quick fix. The program is designed to give you skills you can keep using — long after the eight sessions end.

Who it's for

Made for busy, overloaded minds.

You don't need any experience with meditation. Mindfulness X may suit you if some of this sounds familiar.

  • Your mind races, and it is hard to switch off.
  • You spend much of the day on autopilot, missing the moment you're in.
  • Stress or worry shows up in your body — tension, restlessness, broken sleep.
  • You get caught up in thoughts and replay them long after they matter.
  • You'd like practical skills, not only talk.
  • You want to build on therapy with a structured skills program.

Mindfulness X is a skills program, not a substitute for individual therapy. If you're working through something specific, your psychologist can help you decide whether the program fits alongside — or after — one-on-one sessions.

Program structure

Eight sessions, built to sequence.

Each weekly session introduces a theme and a practice to try at home. The skills stack — later sessions build on the ones before.

Session 1 — Waking up from autopilot

Recognising how much of the day runs automatically, and beginning to pay attention on purpose.

Session 2 — The body scan

A gentle, guided practice for noticing physical sensations and reconnecting with the body.

Session 3 — Breath and movement

Using the breath and simple mindful movement as an anchor for wandering attention.

Session 4 — Staying present with stress

Learning to notice the early signs of stress, and to stay with them rather than react.

Session 5 — Allowing and letting be

Practising an open, accepting stance toward difficult feelings, instead of fighting them.

Session 6 — Thoughts are not facts

Seeing thoughts as passing mental events, and stepping back from unhelpful patterns.

Session 7 — Taking care of yourself

Using awareness to notice what depletes you and what restores you, day to day.

Session 8 — A practice for life

Drawing the threads together and building a simple, personal plan to keep the practice going.

The exact pace is set with you. Sessions usually run weekly and last around 50 minutes, in person in Parramatta or by secure telehealth.

What you can take away

Skills that keep working.

Everyone's experience is different, and mindfulness is a practice rather than a cure. Over the eight weeks, many people notice changes like these.

1

More awareness

A clearer sense of what's happening in your mind and body, as it happens — the starting point for change.

In the moment
2

Less reactivity

More room to choose a response, rather than being swept along by stress or worry.

Under pressure
3

A portable practice

A set of simple, evidence-based tools you can keep using long after the program ends.

For the long run

Practise

The mind can be trained —
the same way a muscle can.

Mindfulness X gives you eight structured sessions, and a practice you can carry into everyday life.

Common questions

Things people ask before starting.

Do I need any experience with meditation?
No. Mindfulness X starts from the beginning and builds gradually, with a guided practice in each session, so it suits complete beginners.
How long is the program?
Eight sessions, usually run weekly, each around 50 minutes. Your psychologist will confirm the schedule with you.
Is it individual or group?
Mindfulness X can be delivered one-on-one or, when available, in a small group. Ask us which options are currently running.
Can I do the program online?
Yes. The program can be delivered by secure telehealth video anywhere in Australia, or in person in Parramatta, and you can switch between the two.
Is mindfulness a treatment for a mental health condition?
Mindfulness X is a skills-building program. It can sit alongside therapy, but it is not a replacement for individual treatment. If you're unsure what you need, we can talk it through first.
