Couples therapy that rebuilds the us.

When the same argument keeps coming back, it's rarely about the dishes. Structured, judgement-free couples work in Parramatta or online — with a psychologist trained to keep it fair.

Sound familiar?

Distance rarely arrives all at once.

It builds in small moments — conversations avoided, repair attempts missed. You don't need a crisis to come in; most couples wish they'd started sooner.

  • The same argument loops, no matter where it starts.
  • You feel more like housemates than partners lately.
  • Small comments land like criticism, and defences go up fast.
  • One of you pursues the conversation; the other shuts down.
  • Trust took a hit — and you're unsure how to rebuild it.
  • Big decisions — kids, money, family — keep getting deferred.
  • Affection and intimacy have quietly gone missing.
  • You still care — that's exactly why it hurts.

Wanting it to be better is enough of a reason. Couples who start earlier tend to need fewer sessions — and even long-standing patterns can change with the right structure.

How couples therapy works

Structured, fair, and practical.

This isn't refereed arguing. Your psychologist uses approaches with the strongest evidence for relationships — and both of you always know what the plan is.

Gottman Method

Research-built tools for de-escalating conflict, rebuilding fondness and making repair attempts that actually land.

Emotionally Focused Therapy

EFT looks under the argument at the attachment needs driving it — turning the cycle itself, not your partner, into the problem you solve together.

Communication skills

Concrete, practised skills — raising issues softly, listening without loading a reply, and repairing quickly after a rupture.

Individual sessions

Sometimes one-on-one sessions run alongside the couples work — for old wounds, anger or anxiety that each partner brings into the room.

Most couples notice the temperature drop within the first few sessions. Progress is reviewed against goals you both set — and everything discussed stays in the room.

What to expect

Your first weeks, step by step.

No surprises, no pressure. Here's how the early sessions usually unfold.

1

You both get heard

The first session maps the story of the relationship — how you met, what changed, what each of you wants back. No blame, no verdicts.

Session one
2

Seeing the cycle

Together you'll name the pattern that keeps repeating — who pursues, who withdraws, what triggers it — and start practising small changes between sessions.

Sessions two to four
3

Rebuilding on purpose

Progress is checked against goals you both agreed on. Some couples come for six sessions, others longer — the pace and the destination stay yours.

Ongoing

Reconnect

Reconnection is a skill —
and skills can be learned.

Practical, evidence-based couples therapy to rebuild communication, trust and closeness — at a pace that works for both of you.

Fees & funding

Know your costs before you start.

We confirm your fee and any rebate in writing before your first session. If a funding body covers you, we bill them directly wherever possible.

See the full fee schedule
  • Medicare: rebates apply to individual treatment, not relationship counselling itself — if one partner has a care plan, we'll confirm what's claimable before you start.
  • NDIS, DVA, Workers Comp & CTP: usually no out-of-pocket cost when approved.
  • Private health: claim through your extras cover, with no referral needed.

Common questions

Things people ask before booking.

Does Medicare cover couples therapy?
Medicare rebates generally apply to individual treatment rather than relationship counselling itself. If one partner has a Mental Health Treatment Plan, some sessions may attract a rebate — we confirm exactly what applies to you, in writing, before you start.
What if my partner won't come?
Start on your own. Individual work on communication and patterns often shifts the relationship, and partners frequently join later once they see it's a fair, blame-free space.
Will the psychologist take sides?
No. The relationship is the client. Your psychologist's job is to keep the space fair and safe for both of you — and they'll name it openly if a session drifts from that.
Is it too late for us?
Couples often wait years before reaching out, and still make real gains. Therapy can also help you separate respectfully if that's the path you choose — clarity is a valid outcome too.
Can we do sessions online?
Yes — secure video sessions work well for couples, including when partners are in different locations. You can switch between in-person and telehealth at any time.
