Clear answers about how your mind works.

Comprehensive cognitive, memory and neuropsychological assessment — for learning, memory concerns, brain injury, neurological conditions and diagnostic clarity. Led by our clinical neuropsychologist.

When it helps

Reasons people seek a cognitive assessment.

A neuropsychological assessment maps your thinking skills — memory, attention, language, processing — to answer a specific question, guide treatment or support funding and study.

  • You've noticed changes in memory, concentration or word-finding.
  • You're recovering from a stroke, brain injury or concussion and want to understand its impact.
  • You or a family member have questions about dementia or cognitive decline.
  • A learning difficulty (such as dyslexia) may be affecting study or work.
  • You need IQ or cognitive testing for school, university or a support application.
  • A neurological condition (MS, epilepsy) is affecting how you think day to day.
  • You need clear evidence for NDIS, Centrelink or return-to-work decisions.
  • You simply want to understand your cognitive strengths and how to use them.

Every assessment answers a clear question. We'll agree on what you need to know before we start — and make sure the report actually answers it.

What we assess

A precise, whole-picture assessment.

Standardised, validated testing across the domains that matter — interpreted by a clinical neuropsychologist and translated into clear, usable findings.

Cognitive & IQ

Full-scale intellectual assessment (WAIS-IV, WISC-V) mapping verbal, reasoning, working memory and processing.

Memory & attention

Detailed memory and attention testing to identify changes, their pattern and their likely cause.

Neuropsychological

Comprehensive assessment after brain injury, stroke or neurological conditions, and for questions of dementia.

A written report

A clear, practical report you own — for treatment, rehabilitation, study, NDIS, Centrelink or return to work.

Assessments are led by our clinical neuropsychologist, Robert Ruane, with senior clinicians. Every assessment includes a feedback session where we explain the findings in plain language.

The process

Your assessment, step by step.

Clear and structured from start to finish — you'll always know what's next.

1

Intake & history

We start with your story — developmental history, school and work, and what prompted you to seek answers. Questionnaires are sent ahead of time.

Step one
2

Testing sessions

Structured interviews and standardised tests, conducted over one or more sessions. It's engaging, not an exam — there are no trick questions.

Step two
3

Report & feedback

You receive a comprehensive written report and a feedback session that explains what it all means — and exactly what to do next.

Step three
Fees & funding

Know your costs before you start.

Assessments are quoted in full and in writing before you commit. Some Medicare and NDIS rebates may apply depending on your situation — we'll talk you through it.

See the full fee schedule
  • Medicare: rebates on up to 10 sessions a year with a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP.
  • NDIS, DVA, Workers Comp & CTP: usually no out-of-pocket cost when approved.
  • Private health: claim through your extras cover, with no referral needed.
Common questions

Things people ask before booking.

Do I need a referral for a cognitive assessment?
A referral isn't essential, but a GP or specialist referral is often helpful for cognitive assessments — it gives us the background and may support funding. You'll get a written quote first.
How long does a cognitive assessment take?
Usually two to four appointments over a few weeks — intake, one or more testing sessions and a feedback session. Neuropsychological assessments can be longer depending on the question. You'll get a clear timeline and a written quote before you start.
Can a cognitive assessment be done online?
The interview and feedback sessions can be done via telehealth, but the standardised cognitive tests themselves must be administered in person to stay valid — so at least one in-room appointment is needed. We'll arrange the schedule around you.
What happens if I'm diagnosed?
You leave with a comprehensive report that answers your question in plain language — with practical recommendations for treatment, rehabilitation, study, work or funding, and a clear path for next steps.
Who receives my assessment report?
Your report is released only to you, or to people you nominate in writing, apart from narrow legal exceptions your psychologist explains up front.
