Anger under control — not in control.
Anger is a normal emotion. It becomes a problem when it starts costing you — relationships, work, self-respect. Learn practical, evidence-based skills one-on-one, or in our Temper Tamers™ group program.
Anger wears many disguises.
It isn’t only shouting. It’s the slammed door, the silent treatment, the simmering commute. If any of this is familiar, it’s worth taking seriously.
- You go from calm to furious faster than you can catch it.
- Afterwards comes the regret — and apologies you’re tired of making.
- The people you love are careful around you — and you’ve noticed.
- Small things — traffic, noise, a tone of voice — set off outsized reactions.
- Anger is following you to work — conflict, warnings, a reputation you don’t want.
- You hold it in for weeks — then it all comes out at once, over something small.
- Your body keeps score — clenched jaw, tight chest, racing heart, poor sleep.
- Someone you trust has said the words: “you need help with your anger.”
Anger is often the visible tip of something else — stress, hurt, exhaustion, anxiety or old wounds. Asking for help isn’t an admission that you’re a bad person; it’s usually the moment things start to change. If you’re ever worried you might hurt yourself or someone else, don’t wait for an appointment — our urgent help page lists services you can call right now.
Skills first, insight close behind.
Anger management at Mind Health is practical. You’ll leave the early sessions with techniques you can use the same week — then work on what’s driving the heat.
CBT
Catching the thoughts that light the fuse — “they did that on purpose”, “I can’t let this go” — and testing fairer, cooler readings of the moment.
Regulation skills
Learning your early-warning signs and how to bring your body down from the boil — breathing, time-out plans and de-escalation that work in real time.
Communication
Saying what you actually need without aggression — assertiveness, repair conversations and problem-solving that prevent the next blow-up.
Temper Tamers™ group
Our structured group program — weekly two-hour sessions in a small group capped at ten, with a workbook and skills practice between sessions.
Temper Tamers™ also runs one-on-one: eight individual sessions, scheduled flexibly, covering the same skills at your own pace — both formats include take-home materials and a follow-up after the program ends. And because anger often rides on trauma, depression or chronic stress, we treat it with those drivers in view, not in isolation. See all our group programs.
Your first weeks, step by step.
No lectures, no judgement — a practical plan from the start.
What anger is costing you
Session one maps where anger shows up, what sets it off and what it’s costing — plus what’s underneath it. You’ll set goals that matter to you, not a generic checklist.
Building your toolkit
You’ll learn to spot your early-warning signs, practise in-the-moment techniques, and start using them between sessions — where it counts.
Making it stick
Skills get refined against real situations, and progress is reviewed against your goals. Temper Tamers™ participants also have a follow-up session after the program ends.
