How Medicare rebates work
1. See your GP
Tell them you'd like a Mental Health Care Plan. They'll spend about 20 minutes with you to understand what's going on, then provide a referral letter and an MBS item plan.
2. Book with us
Call 1300 084 200 or book online. Bring the MHCP and referral to your first session (or email them ahead — admin@mindhealth.com.au).
3. We claim Medicare for you
We process the rebate at the end of each session. You pay the gap; Medicare sends the rebate to your bank account.
A Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from your GP entitles you to 10 Medicare-rebated psychology sessions per calendar year. We process the Medicare claim for you on the day — the rebate goes straight to your linked bank account, usually within 1–2 business days.
Bulk-billing & financial hardship
Some of our clinicians bulk-bill clients in genuine financial hardship — full Medicare rebate, no gap. If cost is a barrier to getting help, please tell our intake team on 1300 084 200. We'll work with you to find a clinician who can offer bulk-billing or reduced fees within their caseload.
Payment & cancellation policy
Payment is taken at the end of each session by EFTPOS, credit card, or pre-authorised card on file. We charge full session fees for cancellations within 24 hours and full fees for non-attendance — Medicare does not rebate cancellation fees.
